Another exciting school year is just around the corner! I would like to personally welcome you and your student to Cerro Villa Middle School, recognized as a Gold Ribbon School in May 2015, a California Distinguished School (2013-17), 2016 Honor Roll School, and WASC Accredited (grades 7-8 from 2017-2023)!
Whether this is your first or second year with Cerro Villa, we pledge to provide your student with a variety of academic and extra-curricular opportunities to pave the way for success in high school and beyond. The success of each student depends on the effective partnership forged among parents, students and the school.
As a result, I encourage you to become actively involved in your child's education. In addition to academic encouragement, there are many opportunities for involvement. Our Parent/Faculty/Student Organization (PFSO), student clubs, and our School Site Council are great ways to provide your input and assistance to Cerro Villa. If you are interested in participating, please contact the office for more information.
We have a late start to school EVERY Wednesday with school starting at 9:25 a.m. and ending at regular time, 2:43 p.m. A bell schedule may be found on our school website. Uniform information will be provided at registration and on our school website. Uniform sizing and purchases of shirts, bottom wear, sweatshirts and jackets is handled by our vendors at their establishments. All students are expected to be in uniform on the first day and to follow the uniform requirements on a daily basis. Academic success is critical! Promotion from middle school requires that students pass 36 of 42 credits and not earn more than one “F” grade as a final trimester grade per subject. Ultimately, students will be retained if they do not complete the required credits. We utilize many intervention strategies such as academic advisement, Homework Help, tutorials, summer school and Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS). Parent participation is always an important part of the process as we monitor the progress of all students toward successful completion of middle school promotion requirements. We look forward to working with you!
